Count me among the many in this country that are struggling with the election results. I am scared for so many things, for so many people. I still cannot believe we elected someone who sits on a throne of racism and lies and doesn’t believe in science. I waffle between frustration and anger and we gotta get to work! It’s going to take time. I can only hope the Republican congress is unhelpful in passing his agenda.
Caden was awesome about her broken arm for about two weeks, and then things started to go downhill. She has to sit out of a lot of things. Horseback riding, piano lessons, morning work, writing, sometimes math, gym. There are times when she rolls with it, and times when she breaks down crying wailing “I don’t like my life right now!” We’re working through it.
Where Caden is struggling, Delaney is blossoming. She had an awesome horseback riding lesson last week and was complimented multiple times on her form. She LOVES piano lessons right now and absolutely beams when she plays. I don’t have to ask her multiple times to practice, she sits down willingly, and even practices extra when she has a few free minutes. Piano has been a struggle for us lately, so it’s been so refreshing to have it be this spot of joy rather than a dark cloud.
On the flip side, Caden has been really good about getting us out of our ruts. She wears all the clothes in her closet, rather than just t-shirts and jeans like Delaney. She also pushes me to do more than just hang at home on the weekends, pushing for playdates and outings. A few weeks ago she wanted something to do after dinner so she pulled out a puzzle. I forgot how much fun puzzles are! We flew through that first one and bought a new 750 piece that is about 75% complete. She’s also great about suggesting board games, so we’ve been playing those after dinner. It’s a nice change of pace, and something we needed as we settle into winter.
