Enough Snow

on January 31, 2014

Everyone has their breaking point during winter. I did fine through the cold weather. We didn’t have to be outside much, and it was fun to hang with their girls. But the snow we got yesterday? Pushed me right over the edge. I snowblowed the driveway at 7:15am. It was no fun, since the wind blew the snow right back into my face. Rushed through our morning routine and had the girls outside at 8:50am, just in time for the bus. By that time our driveway had another two inches of fresh snow on it. You could hardly tell I had been out there an hour before!

We waited 30 minutes for the bus and it never showed. The kids were sledding down tiny hills in our neighbor’s yard so they didn’t care, but the wind was blowing and it was COLD. I finally threw the girls in the truck and drove them to school. Next time I’m calling it after 15 minutes of waiting for the bus. (Apparently our bus was the one with the most trouble. Of course.)

The worst part of all of this is that we don’t have a warm weather vacation planned. It’s the right call, we’re saving our money for other things right now, but I’m still jealous of everyone heading to warmer climates.

Pictures!

Sunday. Caden picked out a fancy dress to wear to a surprise birthday party.

Monday. Oh god. I took this in the afternoon, clearly after they had destroyed the house.

Tuesday. We tried the light in their bedroom again, but it’s a no go for the mornings.

Wednesday. School! They were less excited than they look.

Thursday. We were late due to the snowblowing, and Laney hates when I start rushing them.
